Pool-water pH measurement and adjustment

Appropriate water pH adjustment is an important requirement both for optimum action of the PROBAZEN® (“For Pool”) pool water treatment product series and for establishing comfortable swimming conditions. The optimum pool water pH is from pH 6.8 to pH 7.6. A pH higher than 7.6 supports mineral haze, potential filtration system blocking, reduction in sanitation efficiency and eye and skin irritation.

A pH lower than 6.8 causes metal and concrete corrosion, colour fading and, once again, eye and skin irritation. To measure the pH with a pool water minitester, add one tablet of Red Phenol Rapid (provided together with the tester) to the tester cup and read the pH by matching the colour with that on the pH chart provided. If the pH is higher than recommended, lower it by using pH MINUS. Each 80 g of pH MINUS added per 10 m3 of water will lower the pH by ~0.1. If the pH is lower than recommended, increase it by using pH PLUS. Each 100 g of pH PLUS added per 10 m3 of water will increase the pH by ~0.1.”
